GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Community Relations Committee is working to form an ad hoc committee for the unhoused community. The Committee would have representatives from the unhoused community, city officials, and community stakeholders who would come together with the purpose of making recommendations on how the Community Relations Committee could support unhoused individuals.
Members of the unhoused community came to the Community Relations Committee meeting on Monday evening to share some of their thoughts on the topic. One individual shared thoughts about the use of abandoned buildings for the unhoused so they may better utilize resources like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP, and fix up the buildings themselves.
Approval for the ad hoc unhoused community committee will come before full council this Wednesday, March 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the John Zon Community Center and online via GCTV and Zoom.
