GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Upper Pioneer Veterans’ Services District will be hosting their annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony in Greenfield on Monday, November 11th.

The observance parade begins at 10 a.m. at Greenfield Middle School and concludes on Main Street at Veterans Mall where Chris Demars, director of the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District, and Mayor Ginny Desorgher will speak.

Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District Honors Veterans Day with Annual Ceremony

GREENFIELD – The Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District will honor the military community with its annual Veterans Day observance parade and ceremony on Monday, November 11.

The Veterans Day parade begins at 10 a.m. at Greenfield Middle School. The parade route travels down Federal Street before taking a right onto Main Street. From there, a short walk onto Main Street will conclude at Veterans Mall for a reflective speaking ceremony.

Chris Demars, director of the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District, will provide remarks on behalf of the veteran community. In addition, Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher will present a proclamation to commemorate Veterans Day.

“I served with a lot of brave men and women over my years in the service, so I feel it is important for them to be honored for the sacrifices they endured,” said Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District Director Chris Demars.

“Veterans Day is a momentous occasion, an important time where we all come together to express our gratitude to the countless individuals who have sacrificed to preserve our country’s values,” said Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher. “I hope you can all join us for this beautiful ceremony organized by the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District.”

Veteran organizations participating in the parade include local representatives from the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Department of Disabled Veterans. Other community groups, such as the Greenfield Middle School and Greenfield High School bands and local Boy and Girl Scout troops, will also participate.
