(Greenfield, MA) The City of Greenfield is urging residents to voluntarily conserve water as the region is entering moderate drought conditions. The lack of rain and the dredging of the Leyden Glen Reservoir has reduced the available water for the city. The city will be relying on the Millbrook Wellfield and Green River Pumping Station for water through the summer.

“Greenfield is fortunate to have multiple sources of water, but when we enter drought conditions, we are reminded that water is a finite resource and we must use it wisely,” said Mayor Roxann Wedegartner. “The City will continue to monitor water levels closely to ensure supplies are adequate.”

Residents can reduce water consumption by limiting lawn watering, car washing, washing full loads of laundry and dishes, and installing water-saving devices.
