BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced yesterday the first human case of West Nile virus in the state this year has occurred in a Hampden County male in his 40s.
Public Health Commissioner Robbie Goldstein said August and Septemeber are historically the months where exposure to West Nile virus is highest and mosquito populations are large this year; residents should take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
