(West Springfield, MA) The West Springfield Police Department has made arrests after a pursuit in a reported stolen vehicle Friday. At this time, it is unclear if those suspects are linked to any break ins around Franklin County. On Friday, November 13, West Springfield Police pursued a Toyota Highlander SUV that refused to stop after an officer observed the SUV acting suspiciously and traveling at a high rate of speed. At one point, the SUV struck a curb, causing a wheel to fall off. Three of the passengers fled on foot, jumping a guardrail. Two passengers in the vehicle did not flee. Officers were able apprehend all five suspects. Two juveniles were taken to the juvenile facility and booked, while three adult males were taken to Springfield District Court for arraignment. The Toyota Highlander the suspects were traveling in was reported stolen from Connecticut and a purse was located in the back seat that was reported stolen out of Ludlow. Eight cell phones were also located in the vehicle. A connection to other possible thefts in the area is being investigated.
