Whately Selectboard Statement on the 2024 National Election
As your elected Selectboard members for the Town of Whately, we want to address the recent national election. We realize that some residents of Whately are happy with the results of the national election, while others are sad or even fearful.
No matter the outcome of any national election, the Whately Selectboard works for – and cares about – the residents of our town. We will continue to work for you, to listen to your needs, and to honor the fundamental principles of democracy. We believe in the ideals at the heart of this American nation. We believe in freedom, opportunity, fairness, and dignity for all people.
Whately residents have a long history of helping each other to grow and thrive, and of taking care of our beautiful town and its surroundings. We anticipate that this will continue.
The incoming administration has been publicizing plans to significantly change the structure and services of the Federal government. This may have impacts on citizens at the state and local levels.
As the Selectboard, we will work with Massachusetts legislators to be proactive in identifying any potential changes that the new administration will be implementing, to help address immediate needs where we have the ability to do so and will work to provide stability for our community within the context of national politics.
We ask that the residents of Whately also work together to continue to grow and thrive and take care of each other, and to respect one another, and to engage in respectful dialogue about any issues facing the town. We have that history, and we know we can continue.
We are, as always, the One and Only WHATELY!
