(Bernardston, MA) Tuesday evening Bernardston Fire Department was called to River Street for a chimney fire. Engines 2 and 3 along with Car 1 responded to the call. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and clear the chimney, stopping what could have been a damaging fire.
The Bernardston Fire Department issued a reminder to the public to keep your family and home safe this winter by regularly checking your chimney for blockages as they can occur abruptly. Other area departments have issued similar warnings around home heating hazards, asking the public to inspect all heating sources as the cold season begins.
