(Athol, MA) Julia Okrusko, the 37 year old woman found dead in the Miller’s River in Athol Wednesday last week, was reportedly an award winning violinist. Her work included at least two albums, one title “Legends” and the other titled “Dragonborn.” Both of which can be found here on Youtube. Her awards, including third Prize at the International W. A. Mozart Competition in Riga, a Diploma at the International B. Dvarionas Competition in Vilnius, the first Prize at the International Berlingske Tidende Competition in Copenhagen the first prize at the National J. Fledžinskis Competition, the first Prize at the National Chamber Music Competition, a Laureate Diploma and Special Prize for performance of a composition by B. Dvarionas at the International B. Dvarionas Competition, the first Prize at the International A. Glazounov Competition in Paris, and Special Prize at the International J. Heifetz Competition. Her website can be found here. The detectives from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office are investigating the death, although it has been ruled not suspicious at this time and no foul play is believed to have been involved.
