GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Lora Wondolowski has won the First Franklin District seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, while Lori Streeter is closing in on election as Franklin County sheriff in Tuesday’s November 3 general election.
Wondolowski, a Democrat and Greenfield City Council president, defeated independent candidate Amy Lavallee of Whately to claim the seat formerly held by Natalie Blais. Blais resigned earlier this year to accept a position at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
During her campaign, Wondolowski highlighted issues including housing, rural funding, environmental policy and the need for stronger representation for western Massachusetts on Beacon Hill.
The First Franklin District race drew considerable attention following a closely contested Democratic primary in September, when Wondolowski narrowly defeated former Blais chief of staff Corinne Coryat.
Meanwhile, Lori Streeter, the interim Franklin County sheriff, has a sizable advantage over independent Gary Gagnon and unenrolled candidate Jon Hall. If Streeter has been serving as interim sheriff after being appointed by Governor Maura Healey following the retirement of former Sheriff Christopher Donelan.
