NORTHAMPTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — National Consumer Protection week is held annually in the beginning of March as a Federal Trade Commission initiative to educate the public on fraud and scams.

The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office’s Consumer Protection Unit, CPU, is a local consumer program that has recovered over $100,000 for community members last year.

The Director of the CPU will hold a workshop on “Avoiding Scams, Fraud & Identity Theft” on March 4th in the South Hadley Public Library.
