(Franklin County, MA) The Dakin Humane Society in Springfield admitted over 70 kittens and young cats from a Franklin County home. The Franklin County resident set out to help local stray cats, but became overwhelmed as the 10 cats unneutered began producing multiple litters bringing up the population to over 70 cats and kittens in a year.
The animal lover was relieved when Dakin stepped in to provide resources such as medical care, spay and neutering services, as well as preparing the kittens for adoption. “This is a person who really wanted help, but didn’t know where to get it,” said Moon Wymore, Dakin’s Adoption Center Manager.
“Dakin is here to help,” said Director of Development and Marketing Stacey Price. “We know from firsthand experience how hard it is to be unable to help every animal in need. This is where people – even with the best of intentions – can quickly become overwhelmed.”
The kittens are available for adoption with a special BOGO adoption rate. When one is adopted, the adoption fee a second kitten will be waived to help the kittens find homes together.
