GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — With the Greenfield recycling system changing next spring from dual-stream to single-stream thanks to a $2 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, a third community outreach meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th to discuss in depth what single-stream recycling means for residents.

The meeting will cover the everything from single-stream collection to the processing of materials at the recycling facility, as well and a question and answer portion with Outreach Coordinator Sean Kelleher who has also set up tables at the Greenfield Farmers Market, Greenfield Public Library, the Hawks and Reed “Off the Common” music series and the Greenfield Senior Center to answer questions from the community.

With the transition to single-stream, the DPW will also be replacing their fleet of aging recycle collection vehicles, which will improve efficiency and safety, upgrades will be made at the transfer station for ease of processing, and new recycling carts will be delivered to residents.

The meeting will take place Tuesday at the John Zon Communtiy Center and via Zoom at 6 p.m. and more information is available on the city website.
