BUCKLAND, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Mohawk Trail Regional School Committee has voted to adopt the $27.2 million budget for the next fiscal year, representing an increase of just over one million dollars from the current year’s budget.
Buckland’s portion of the district bill will be the highest at $3.06 million and the smallest assessment in Hawley sits at $243,681 – although the Hawlemont School District budget will be voted on next week and is not factored into these assessments.
The two districts are facing rising costs and low enrollment, leading to an ongoing sustainability study led by Berk12, a consultant firm that has undertaken a similar study in the Berkshires.
