GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — In the face of major cuts to the proposed FY26 Greenfield schools’ budget, the School Committee voted Monday night to reaffirm the redistricting plan that goes into place in the fall after discussing potential paths forward such as partial or no movement on the redistricting plans.
Superintendent Karin Patenaude also shared that there could be a potential 19 cuts to personnel including six administrators/central office employees, one facilities employee, two transportation employees and ten teachers to meet the budget requirements. These cuts would be less than cuts that would have to be made without the redistricting model by about four and a half full time employees.
The School Committee’s Budget and Finance subcommittee will be meeting in the near future to discuss further recommendations for the budget as the schools await the Mayor’s budget book that will be submitted by April 1st.
