GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Ollie’s Law, or An Act to Increase Kennel Safety, was passed in September of 2024 and kennel licenses will now be required for locations with five or more dogs rather than individual dog licenses. Any location, residence, business, not-for-profit organizations, with four or less dogs will need individual dog licenses for each animal.

Wednesday’s Greenfield City Council meeting, a new fee schedule was passed for dog kennels that intends to keep the burden off of families with pets and instead charge more to profit-making businesses, according to city clerk Kathy Scott.

Additional City Ordinance amendments in relation to Ollie’s Law are expected to be brought to Council in April.
