BELCHERTOWN, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A Granby man is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing after being arrested on seven charges including two counts of threatening to commit murder. The cages stem from an incident on March 29th where allegedly threatened two individuals napping in a car, the victims then reported the incident to the police showing a cell phone video they had recorded. The dangerousness hearing is set for April 3rd.

BELCHERTOWN – A Granby man was ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing after he was arrested on seven charges, including two counts of threatening to commit murder in connection with a weekend incident in Granby.

Matthew R. Tarczynski, 43, pleaded not guilty today in the Eastern Hampshire District Court before Judge William Rooney to 2 counts each of threatening to commit murder and assault with a dangerous weapon; one count of assault to intimidate, which is a civil rights violation; and single counts of trafficking in cocaine and possession of a class C drug with intent to distribute.

The charges stem from an incident on March 29, when Tarczynski allegedly threatened with what appeared to be a gun two individuals who had been napping in a car in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lived on New Ludlow Road in Granby. He called one of them a racial epithet during the incident, which led to the civil rights violation.

The victims in the car called 911 and subsequently went to the police station, where they reported the incident and showed police a cell phone video they had taken during the encounter.

After police arrested Tarczynski on the threats and assault charges, they sought and executed a search warrant for his apartment which turned up drugs and two BB pistols, leading to the additional charges.

At the request of Northwestern Assistant District Attorney Rachel Lauder, Judge Rooney ordered Tarczynski held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for April 3. Tarczynski is being represented by defense attorney Robert LaFlamme.
