ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A balanced budget has passed in Orange’s Town Meeting.
The Town Meeting had originally been held June 16th, however with a vote on a potential Proposition 2 1/2 override coming Monday, June 23rd, the budget vote was held until after that decision. Then, the override was voted down and the Town Meeting reconvened on Tuesday, June 24th, when it was determined there needed to be a meeting with the Finance Committee Wednesday .
Residents were able to finally conclude the Town Meeting Wednesday evening, June 25th, and passed a balanced budget utilizing the town’s free cash reserves to save all Fire, Police, DPW, and Town Hall positions from the potential cuts proposed by the Town Administrator to maintain the budget.
