TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Neighbor connections may have saved a Montague Street home in Turners Falls.
A neighbor of a resident away on vacation noticed smoke alarms sounding Friday afternoon and quickly called 911, triggering an expedient response from the Turners Falls Fire Department along with mutual aid agencies.
The fire was contained to the first floor and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Mutual aid was provided by Greenfield Fire, Montague Center Fire, Erving Fire, Orange Fire, and Bernardston Fire Departments as well as the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit. The Montague Police closed Montague Street for the duration of the incident.
