(Greenfield, MA) Today Greenfield turns a ripe old age of 267 years old. Incorporated in 1753, Greenfield has survived all American wars, the flu pandemic of 1918, and the Great Depression.

“Greenfield, like almost every city in America, and like even more cities around the world, is going through a very challenging time,” said Mayor Roxann Wedegartner in a statement. “There is another pandemic raging. We could be on the doorstep of the next Great Depression,’ the statement went on.

But for all the challenges facing Greenfield in 2020, Wedegartner has a message of hope. “People would be wrong to be against Greenfield. Smart people are betting that on your 268th birthday you will have once again reinvented yourself, will be well on the way to realizing all your municipal aspirations, and working as hard as ever to be strong.”
