(Massachusetts) Senator Ed Markey announced on June 10 that he is signing a “no copy money” pledge and will be rejecting donations from police unions.

“Police unions represent part of a system that needs fundamental change if our society is ever to see justice,” Markey said in a recent Facebook post.

As the incumbent in the current election for Senate in Massachusetts, Markey also supports the Green New Deal and Medicare for all. In contrast, Kennedy has been more vocal about his disdain for current President Donald Trump and voting rights throughout the nation.

“Not only do we need nationwide vote by mail, but we need sweeping reforms that would fight every single mechanism of voter suppression that the GOP champions, especially in Black and Brown communities,” said Kennedy in a Social Media post on Wednesday.

Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner has officially endorsed Markey for the Senate seat.
