NEW SALEM, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — New Salem residents voted down a Proposition 2 1/2 override at the ballot on Monday, 178 to 159 votes. This means a revised, lower budget will head to the Annual Town Meeting next Monday. The election saw a 37% voter turnout.
