GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — For the second time in less thana week, a body has been recovered from the Connecticut River.

Tuesday afternoon first responders were dispatched to Smead Island, a portion of the Connecticut River between Greenfield and Turners Falls, for a report of an individual found along the shoreline. The adult male was recovered and subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The investigation is being headed up by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit of the Northwestern District Attorney, as well as state and Greenfield Police,
