(BOSTON) — The third annual Massachusetts STEM Week is a go for 2020, despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito made the announcement today. STEM Week will take place this year from October 19-October 23 and will include a mix of virtual and in-person events, lessons, speakers, panels, and design challenges.
“Since the Baker-Polito administration launched STEM Week two years ago, tens of thousands of students of all ages in every region of the Commonwealth have participated in engaging, challenging, and fun learning experiences to help get them hooked on STEM,” said Secretary of Education James Peyser.
Clean energy, information technology, defense and advanced manufacturing are all STEM related industries in Massachusetts and make up 40% of all employment. For 2020, STEM focused design challenges with seven organizations will be the focus of STEM week.
