(Boston, MA) Massachusetts has changed the way town by town reporting data is calculated and reported. Now, towns and communities are evaluated according to population. A town that has less than 10,000 people will be designated as high risk for spreading COVID-19 if the town has more than 25 total cases. For a town or city that has between 10 and 50 thousand people, a high risk designation is given for more than 10 cases per 100,000 people and a positivity rate over 5%. For towns and cities over 50 thousand people, a high risk designation is given for more than 10 cases per 100 thousand people and a positivity rate over 4%.
