(Greenfield, MA) — The waterways surrounding and leading to the Connecticut River are a good deal cleaner than they were before this weekend. Hundreds of volunteers turned out for this week’s 25th annual Connecticut River Conservancy “Source To Sea Cleanup.” Locally, more than 250 people arrived at the Green River Swimming and Recreation Area in Greenfield Saturday morning to haul away a variety of trash and other waste. Organizers say more than 20 tons of refuse was collected at 20 sites over the course of the day on Saturday.
