(Greenfield, MA) Mayor Roxann Wedegartner has lifted the mask mandate for the City of Greenfield starting Saturday, May 29 in conjunction with the Governor. On that date, masks will no longer be required in public in Greenfield.

Mayor Roxann Wedegartner stated, “Kindness matters. We will undoubtedly have members of our community who may want to continue wearing a mask and we should be respectful of their concerns. We have done a great job managing through this historic pandemic as a City and I thank everyone for their consideration, respect, and kindness.”

Masks may be required in some businesses and in City Hall as well as other public-facing, municipal buildings including the Greenfield Public Library, 20 Sanderson Street and 189 Wells Street.  Each business will make their own individual choice regarding whether to require masks.

According to Greenfield Health Director Jennifer Hoffman, “We are pleased to be able to make this announcement and thank City residents for their tenacity during the COVID-19 pandemic to help stop the spread in Greenfield. I encourage everyone to continue using their best judgment and continue to do what’s best for their families and be sure to follow guidance set by the CDC.”
