(Montague, MA) The annual town election in Montague will be held on Tuesday, May 17th. The three-year seat opening on the Board of Health is the most contentious race on the ballot. Many of the other positions up for election are run for by unopposed incumbents.
The Board of Health seat is currently held by the chair, Al Cummings, who is not seeking re-election. The candidates running for the seat are Kathleen Burek, Catherine Dodds, Maureen McNamara, and Rachel Augusta Stoler.
Burek, the town’s animal inspector of the past decade, has held multiple town government positions including serving as a library trustee and sitting on the Police Advisory Committee. Dodds hasn’t served in local government before but she is a medical doctor working in primary care. McNamara is a nursing assistant who wants to improve communication with the residents of Montague. Stoler cares about community health and currently holds health-related positions in the Franklin Regional Council of Governments, Communities That Care Coalition, and Franklin County’s Mass in Motion.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with locations depending on precinct. See full details on the Montague town website.
