SHUTEBSURY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Shutesbury’s 2025 Local Election will be taking place Saturday, April 26th at the Shutesbury Town Hall at 1 Cooleyville Road.

Ten town offices are up for election with candidates named for all open seats, something that has been a challenge in other local, rural towns.

Nettie Harrington Pangallo, a public school teacher of 20 years, is running for Town Moderator. Pangallo said “I teach that when we understand one another’s struggles and strengths, we are collectively wiser and stronger, making decisions that meet all our needs. It has never been more critical that the voices and values of our friends and neighbors come together to shape a civil and just trajectory for our future. I believe our Town Meeting is an excellent model for how to sustain respectful, equitable forms of democracy, and I would be honored to utilize my experience to serve our beautiful and small but mighty town as its Moderator.”

Keith Hastie, a US Navy and Naval Reserves veteran is running for Planning Board with the goals of ensuring zoning bylaws reflect the interests of residents. In Hastie’s candidate statement he shared his 22 years in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves, and 24 years with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and said, “If elected to the Planning Board I commit to working hard to ensure our zoning bylaw reflects the interests of our residents and that its provisions are applied objectively and lawfully.”
