AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Amherst College students were displaced from their home when a fire sparked in an apartment on South Pleasant Street in Amherst Sunday evening.
The entire building was deemed unsuitable for living after the fire burned through the third and fourth floor porches and along the back of the building. The building held three floors of apartments above a ground floor with commercial space, no word yet on how long until the business can reopen.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no injuries have been reported.
