WASHINGTON, DC (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — All federal staff from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as LIHEAP, have been let go this week, leaving no one to direct funds to states to help low income people pay for heating and cooling.

The Department of Health and Human Services, which houses LIHEAP, said they are letting go of 10,000 people in a press release, after having already let 10,000 workers go earlier this year.
