ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Orange Sewer Commission voted this week to raise the rate 22.3% to meet operational budget needs. The raise comes after no rate increases since FY2022, meanwhile the expenses in the department have risen 83%.
The new rate, $15.29 per 100 cubic feet, fell midway between the existing rate of $12.50 and the suggested $18. Expenses are expected to continue rising, so an additional rate increase may well be coming down the line.
