UMass student fatally shot in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A rising senior at UMass Amherst from Granby, was fatally shot in Washington, D.C. Tuesday.

Eric Tarpinian-Jachym was interning for U.S. Representative Ron Estes, R-KS, this summer when he became an unintended victim in a three-person shooting. Tarpinian-Jachym was transported to a local hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

Metropolitan Police are offering a $25,000 reward for anyone who has information that can lead to the arrest of the individual, or individuals, responsible. The Department may be reached at (202) 727-9099.
