SHUTESBURY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The new Shutesbury Public Library is set to open later this year and when it does, the MN Spear Library will be vacant. A Reuse Committee is forming to take action on the property by researching potential uses for the space.
The Committee will be comprised of seven members appointed by the Select Board, with a preference for those with experience in real estate, architecture, structural engineering, municipal services and/or the adaptive reuse of historical buildings. There will be representation from the historical commission, buildings and finance committees.
With public input, the Committee is expected to produce a written report on their findings by November 1st, 2025.
