MONTAGUE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — At Monday’s Montague Selectboard meeting, Police Chief Christopher Williams shared that while there is not funding for a full time School Resource Officer in the Gill-Montague schools, Officer Dan Miner will return to the schools as often as he can.
The SRO position had been eliminated earlier this year in an effort to reduce school costs, now the police department will cover the costs and spare Officer Miner so he can be in the schools as often as his position allows.
A Memorandum of Understanding was approved by the Selectboard for the current fiscal year, from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
