SOUTHAMPTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A jury has found Mathieu J. Tebo of Southampton guilty of 22 crimes last Thursday in Hampshire Superior court.

Tebo was convicted of several counts of rape, assault and battery on a household member, kidnapping, and strangulation among other charges in relation to several incidents with former girlfriends in Southampton in 2022 and in Orange in 2016 to 2017.

Jury Convicts Southampton Man of Multiple Sex Offenses

NORTHAMPTON – Mathieu J. Tebo, 43, of Southampton, was found guilty of 22 crimes Thursday by a Hampshire County Superior Court jury following a three-week trial and three days of deliberations.

Tebo was convicted of two counts of aggravated rape; six counts of rape; three counts of assault and battery on a family or household member; two counts of indecent assault and battery; two counts of attempted extortion; and single counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, strangulation, suffocation, stalking, and violation of a protective order. He was found not guilty on two counts of stalking and single counts of rape and intimidation of a witness.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Hampshire County Superior Court.

Three of Tebo’s former girlfriends testified about his pattern of intimate partner and sexual violence which occurred in Southampton in 2022, in Northampton in 2017 and in Orange in 2016-2017.

Assistant District Attorneys Sandra Staub and Justine Aljoe prosecuted the case with Victim Witness Advocate Jennifer Reid working closely with the survivors and Paralegal Alyssa Devlin providing critical trial support. Tebo was represented by Attorney Aliki Recklitis from the Committee for Public Counsel Services. The case was tried before Judge James M. Manitsas.

Assistant District Attorney Sandra Staub praised the survivors for their strength stating, “We are grateful to the three women who bravely came forward to report these heinous crimes and to testify at trial. We are also grateful to the jurors for listening so carefully and issuing just verdicts that demonstrate that they believed these women.” Staub added, “We would also like to thank the Southampton, Northampton and Orange Police Departments for their extensive investigative effort that helped make these convictions possible.”
