Tebo sentenced to 16-20 years in state prison

NORTHAMPTON – Mathieu J. Tebo, 43, of Southampton, was sentenced Wednesday in Hampshire County Superior Court following a jury finding him guilty on November 20, 2025. Hampshire County Superior Court Judge James M. Manitsas sentenced Tebo to 16-20 years in state prison.

Tebo was convicted of two counts of aggravated rape; six counts of rape; three counts of assault and battery on a family or household member; two counts of indecent assault and battery; two counts of attempted extortion; and single counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, strangulation, suffocation, stalking, and violation of a protective order.

Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Sandra Staub urged the Court to issue three consecutive guideline- based sentences, amounting to 28–35 years in total. ADA Staub argued that this sentence would be appropriate given there were three separate victims and the severity of the offenses, which included repeated intimate partner and sexual violence. ADA Staub argued Tebo was, “using love as a weapon” against his three former girlfriends. All three women spoke at his sentencing, each requesting the maximum sentence afforded by the law. Attorney Aliki Recklitis of the Committee for Public Counsel Services argued that the sentences should run concurrently, resulting in a lesser total sentence of 10–15 years.

Tebo will be on probation for five years after his release, during which he must complete the intimate partner abuse education program and participate in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
