LEVERETT, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Dudleyville Road Drainage Improvement Project in Leverett, which is funded through a $1 million grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will begin work again on the road beginning on March 30th. During construction, the road will be closed to thru traffic from 7 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday (while the Contractor is actively working) and will be reopened each evening.

The Dudleyville Road Drainage Improvement Project, which is funded through a $1 million grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will begin work again on the road beginning on March 30, 2026. Northern Tree will be on the Road doing tree work on March 30th and the contractor, Ludlow Construction, Inc, will be onsite beginning the next Monday, April 6th, 2026. The purpose of this project is to replace existing drainage culverts that cross the roadway and to improve the drainage swales along the roadside to better control the stormwater on Dudleyville Road.
During construction, the road will be closed to thru traffic from 7 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday (while the Contractor is actively working) and will be reopened each evening. Due to the nature of the work, residents may need to access their properties via a detour on Montague Road in Shutesbury during the day. Please be prepared to use the detour and for slower driving during this construction period.

Public comments about the Project also will be invited during Selectboard meetings beginning in April 2026 until the project is complete. Please check the website for dates, times and locations of meetings (remote option is available). A time also will be set aside for public comments during scheduled project progress meetings which will be held only if required by the project and the dates of which can be found by reaching out to Margie McGinnis.
