(Athol, MA) Quabbin Valley Health Care, or QVHC, released a statement today that the facility will not be opening up, despite Governor Baker’s guidance. In the statement QHVC stated that the facility is one of few facilities in Massachusetts that do not have any cases of COVID-19.

“We are one of a few facilities in MA that has no cases of COVID-19 and we want to be very cautious on when and how we allow people back in,” said QVHC in a recent statement.

Two weeks ago two residents at QVHC came back with a positive COVID-19 result. However, the 300 tests that were completed in the facility came back negative. The positive patients were transferred to the COVID wing but did not exhibit any symptoms.

“During the last 10 weeks we’ve been monitoring all residents and patients as a precautionary measure,” said QVHC.

Apparently the two positive patients were retested two days later and received negative results at that time. No other plans for the reopening of the facility have been released at this time.
