(Milford, MA) The Massachusetts Department of Corrections announced today that universal testing on Massachusetts inmates has been completed. The department had a positive rate of 5.07%, with 390 COVID-19 positive cases. Of the over 7,000 inmates in the system, many were tested twice. A total of 7,679 tests were conducted on 7,173 inmates.

“While all facilities had received universal testing as of Monday, mobile testing will continue on a strategic basis and individual testing continues within all facilities on an ongoing basis per DPH guidelines,” the press release read.

Seven corrections facilities in the state have zero cases of COVID-19, while 11 have reported three or fewer COVID-19 cases since testing began.
