(GREENFIELD) — A portion of High Street in Greenfield was closed late Tuesday afternoon after part of a  large tree fell across the road following another round of thunderstorms in Franklin County. The tree, located at the corner of Riddell and High Streets came down shortly before 6pm as gusty winds accompanied a thunderstorm that just glanced by Greenfield. Crews worked quickly to clean up the tree and reopen the section of High Street. Traffic was detoured around side streets while crews worked the scene.

Other surrounding towns reported downed trees and power lines including Erving and Gill on Tuesday. The National Weather Service is calling for cooler and drier weather for Wednesday without any storms expected until at least Thursday.
