(Holyoke, MA) — A new report indicates that “substantial errors” led to the recent COVID 19 contagion that killed 79 veterans at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. The independent investigation contends that then-Superintendent Bennett Walsh mismanaged the situation, and that and that high-ranking Baker administration officials failed to act decisively when informed of the developing crisis. Walsh’s lawyer argues that the report indicates that his clients plea for help to the state went largely ignored, but the report also calls into question some of the moves made by Walsh during the early days of the pandemic.
