(Boston, MA) Governor Charlie Baker was reluctant to give any word on whether he would extend the statewide shut down beyond May 4 during Friday’s press conference. Baker said he intends to follow Federal guidelines and watch the actions and results in other countries. Baker made it clear that the Commonwealth must be in a downward trend to reopen the state.

“We need to follow the data,” said Baker during Friday’s press conference. “Any answer I give you today wouldn’t be worth much.”

Although the Commonwealth appears to be in a downward trend, Baker said there must be more data supporting the downward trend before he considers reopening the state. While Baker did not give any information on whether he intends to reopen the state on May 4, he also gave no indication on whether he intends to extend the shutdown.
