(Boston, MA) — Almost a quarter of the state’s labor force has filed new claims for unemployment benefits since the start of the COVID 19 pandemic. New data from the Department of Employment and Training indicates that nearly 900,000 Massachusetts workers have filed new claims since mid-March, 70,000 of which were submitted the week of April 19th alone.
