GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield Mayor Ginny Desorgher has announced the hiring of Erin Anhalt as the city’s new Chief of Staff, replacing Keith Barnicle. Barnicle resigned in mid-July.
Anhalt is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and moved around the country as a navy spouse from 1999 until her husband retired in 2020. She began working on local, state, and national political campaigns in 2018 and joined the Secure Families Initiative in 2020, where she advocates for better voting access for military spouses and lobbying for diplomacy-first foreign policy.
Anhalt is also the chair of the Nonproliferation Leadership Team as part of the Secure Families Initiative.
“It is a tremendous privilege to work on behalf of the city and its residents,” said Anhalt. “I look forward to partnering closely with Mayor Desorgher and city staff to help Greenfield grow together as a community.”
“Erin is a tireless advocate, a bright and compassionate leader who always strives to help others,” said Desorgher. “Her enthusiasm, empathy and professional experience make her a great fit for my administration.”
Barnicle’s last day was Friday, August 16.
“It has been an absolute honor and highlight of my professional career to serve the people and workers of Greenfield – always striving for excellence, kindness and working tirelessly to lift the bar higher,” said Barnicle. “This community is in capable hands, and I look forward to seeing all the great things Greenfield will continue to accomplish.”
“Keith was a great resource to me and city staff during these initial months in office,” said Desorgher. “I wish him all the best in his future opportunities.”
