GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield Mayor Ginny Desorgher has provided an update on the downtown water main replacement project. Desorgher said it is a somewhat difficult endeavor, especially considering the age of what’s currently there.

“The infrastructure is almost 105 years old,” said Desorgher. “We are replacing a four-inch water main with an eight-inch one, and it’s sort of like threading a needle.”

Desorgher said the project is slated for completion in about two months, although Department of Public Works Director Marlo Warner indicated that there is a chance it may wrap up sooner than that.
