ERVING, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Erving Selectboard has voted unanimously to appoint Daniel Hammock to the open seat on the School Committee. Hammock, a former selectboard member, said he is hoping to foster positive communication between the school committee and the community.

“My experience is in negotiating things,” said Hammock. “How you say things is frequently as important as what you say. You may disagree with somebody, and you could say ‘you’re a jerk’. Or you could say, ‘there might be a better way to look at that’ and get a better response.”

Hammock said while he is happy to serve on the committee, he waited until the last possible moment to send a letter of interest to the selectboard, hoping someone else would step up. Hammock said he is hoping more people get involved with town boards and committees.
