GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The annual Franklin County Fair is just about here. Four days of fun is set for the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield from Thursday through Sunday.

The Kickoff Parade starts at 5:00 p.m. at Greenfield Middle School and then proceeds down Federal Street to Main Street, heading west onto the Mohawk Trail, and then down River Street and up Laurel Street to back entrance of the fairgrounds, where the parade wraps up in front of the grandstand.

City of Greenfield Advises Public to Prepare for Closure of Major Routes for Franklin County Fair Parade on Thursday, September 4th

The City of Greenfield is advising the public to prepare for the closure of major routes through Greenfield on the evening of Thursday, September 4th , 2025, for the Franklin County Fair Parade.

The rolling road closures will begin at 5 PM, starting at Pierce Street and Federal Street, with the parade departing from Greenfield Middle School. Road closures will occur as the parade progresses along the route. The parade will proceed south on Federal Street, then turn right onto Main Street to head west before turning south onto River Street, west again onto Laurel Street, and finally will enter the Fairgrounds from Fairview Street.

Roads will begin to reopen around 6 PM, starting at Pierce Street and Federal Street, and proceeding along the route as the parade passes. Roads closer to the end of the route are expected to be reopened around 7 PM.

The public is advised to seek alternate routes during the hours of 5 PM to 7 PM. The City asks that the public be respectful of the officials and volunteers coordinating the closures.
