GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A hobby that emerged during the Covid lockdown of 2020 evolved into something much bigger for 15-year-old Dashiana Davis of Greenfield.

Davis, a Greenfield High School student, has always enjoyed drawing, often with her grandmother. But with so much more spare time on her hands during the pandemic, she was encouraged to paint. Davis quickly took to creating art and is now using her talents to further her athletic career.

Dan Guin, President and General Manager of the Western Mass Media Group, purchased one of Davis’s creations, a painting of a blue heron, on behalf of the Franklin County chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Proceeds from the sale of the painting went toward the purchase of a softball bat for Davis, who also plays volleyball and basketball for the Green Wave.
