GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Police in Greenfield are alerting local stores about counterfeit money that was passed today at the AutoZone store.
In a Facebook post, police said that the bills were handed over folded to hide the fact that it was not legal tender. They are asking businesses to instruct staff to closely inspect all currency that is handed to them before accepting it as payment.
According to the post, the individual who passed these stated that they are being used for an undisclosed program at an undisclosed school. Police said they are unsure if that assertion was true.
