(Boston, MA) Ed Markey, incumbent in the race for United States Senate, has taken a hard line stance on reform. A proponent of the Green New Deal, Climate Change Reform, Immigration, and Civil Rights, Markey has praised activists like Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Markey has proposed monthly $2,ooo paychecks to everyone, regardless of citizenship, during the COVID-19 crisis. Markey has also come out as critic of President Donald Trump’s response to the COVID-19 crisis.

“The Trump administration is failing America by ignoring President Obama’s pandemic response strategy,” Markey said recently on social media.

Joe Kennedy III, challenger for Markey’s Senate seat, has come out in favor of guaranteed hazard pay for front line workers which was passed in Congress in May. Kennedy has also called for voter reform measures, including vote by mail that will aid disabled, elderly, students, immuno-compromised, and communities of color.

“No excuses for barriers to vote,” Kennedy said on his own social media.

Kennedy is also critical of qualified immunity for police officers, a hot button issue in the police reform debate. Kennedy has come out in favor of legislation on the topic after the Supreme Court denied writ for cases on qualified immunity. Kennedy is also vocally anti trump, calling him out as a racist and homophobic.

“He cares nothing about our freedoms or those who make this country great,” said Kennedy.
